Sanding Buddha
The laughing Buddha has been a symbol of hope and happiness since I was child. Whenever I was sad or angry, I would always confide in this 1m tall Laughing Buddha, calling him Pa Pa or Gong Gong. In this 10min single channel video, I have created a mini concrete replica of the laughing Buddha, representing my self defense mechanism that shields me from the pain and sufferings of my external environment. This 12 hour long performative piece is my attempt to negotiate the boundaries within my psychological space and how I then relate myself to the space outside my body.
