Confrontation Series: Kneeling
This is a performance piece where I confront a memory of mine when I was in primary school. This is created in an attempt to heal from what strikes a fear within me. In the memory, my mother made me kneel on rice and peanut shells as a way for me to reflect on my errors. It was during then, that I told myself that I would choose to be happy and not feel despair. It was at this moment that I locked up my "negative emotions" as I escaped deeper into myself as a defense mechanism. In the confrontation, I re-experienced the physical and emotional pain in my body, gaining the awareness of my mental state when I was punished during then.
